Who we are

Tumbleweed Inspections is Eddy Davis's building inspection business, based in Langley, BC. Eddy is responsible for how personal information is handled here. You can reach him at eddy@tumbleweedinspections.ca or 250-938-7388.

What we collect

When you send the contact form, we collect what you type into it: your first and last name, email address, phone number, organization, the kind of work you need, and your message. To stop spam and abuse, the form also records your IP address and the type of browser you used.

If you email or call us, we keep what you send us so we can follow up. We don't collect anything else about you through this website, and we don't buy information about you from anyone.

Why we collect it

We use it to answer your enquiry, book and carry out the work, send you your report, and keep a record of the job. We don't sell it, rent it, or add you to a mailing list.

Spam protection and site statistics

The contact page uses Google reCAPTCHA to tell people from spam bots. To do that, Google looks at how your browser behaves on the page and may set its own cookies. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to that check.

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't follow you to other websites. This site has no advertising or tracking cookies of its own.

Where your information is kept

The website runs through Cloudflare. Form submissions are stored on our own server, hosted by DigitalOcean in New York, USA, with encrypted backups also kept by DigitalOcean. The email that tells Eddy about your enquiry is sent through Resend, and our email is handled by Google Workspace. Because some of these services are outside Canada, your information may be stored and processed in the United States and be subject to the laws there.

Connections to this site are encrypted (HTTPS), and only Eddy and the people who look after the server can get at the stored submissions.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and job records for as long as we need them to do the work and keep proper business records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your rights

Under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our using it. Email eddy@tumbleweedinspections.ca and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your request, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
