Building Inspection & Compliance

As a BOABC Certified Building Inspector, Eddy provides independent inspection, compliance consulting, and building envelope expertise across British Columbia. The work spans code inspections, new-construction progress inspections, and condition and asset management inspections on existing housing stock — including remote and First Nations communities that are difficult and costly to reach.

Every inspection produces a clear, written report you can act on: what was looked at, what was found, and what it means for the property. Where the inspection supports a funding application, the report is structured to meet the program's documentation requirements so it stands up the first time it's submitted.

  • Code inspections
  • Condition and asset management inspections
  • Renovation funding inspection reports (CMHC On-Reserve RRAP and band programs)
  • BC Energy Step Code compliance consulting (Levels 3–5)
  • Building envelope and moisture management review
  • Deficiency identification and remediation planning
  • Remote and First Nations community inspections
  • New construction progress inspections

Funding & Code Reports

Funding & Code Reports

Funding programs and code compliance both run on documentation. A renovation grant gets approved — or held up — on the strength of the inspection report behind it. The same is true for demonstrating Energy Step Code performance on a new build. The report has to say the right things, in the right form, the first time.

Eddy prepares inspection reports built specifically to meet funding-application requirements, including CMHC's On-Reserve Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) and band renovation-funding programs. For new and major-renovation work, he provides BC Energy Step Code compliance consulting across Levels 3 through 5 — translating the energy targets into practical decisions on the envelope, air-tightness, and detailing so the project meets its required step without surprises at occupancy.

  • CMHC On-Reserve RRAP inspection reports
  • Band renovation-funding inspection reports
  • BC Energy Step Code compliance (Levels 3–5)
  • Documentation built to funding-application requirements
  • Envelope and air-tightness review for Step Code targets

Working with a First Nation?

Much of this work happens in remote communities and across whole housing portfolios. Inspection, condition assessment, and CMHC program support for First Nations housing is covered in depth on our First Nations housing & infrastructure page — including portfolio-wide assessments and the realities of reaching hard-to-access sites.

Common questions

What people ask before booking.

Do you inspect remote and First Nations communities?

Yes. We work across British Columbia, including remote and difficult-to-access First Nations communities and fly-in/drive-in sites. Decades of work in community housing means the logistics are familiar, not an obstacle.

Are your inspection reports accepted for CMHC funding?

Yes. Reports are prepared to meet the requirements of CMHC-funded renovation programs (including On-Reserve RRAP) and band housing funding applications — including the condition documentation and final inspections those programs require.

What does a building inspection include?

A typical inspection covers a full condition assessment, building envelope and moisture review, identification of deficiencies, and a clear written report you can act on — whether for code compliance, a funding application, asset management, or remediation planning.

Do you handle BC Energy Step Code compliance?

Yes. We provide BC Energy Step Code compliance consulting at Levels 3–5, including the building-envelope and performance review that new construction needs to meet code and funding requirements.

What areas of BC do you serve?

The whole province. We're based in Langley, BC and travel BC-wide — coastal, interior, and remote communities. Past work includes the Fraser Valley (Chilliwack, Abbotsford), the Lower Mainland, Powell River, Merritt, the Shuswap and the rest of the Interior, and the Northern Rockies (Fort Nelson).
